Band : Johnfish Sparkle From Italy comes Johnfish Sparkle, bringing their second album Flow out on Transubstans. The band was formed in 2008 and consists of Dave Perilli on bass guitar, Rob Gasoline on drums and Al Serra on vocals and lead guitars. Johnfish Sparkle released a selftitled debut called in 2009 and plays bluesy vintage rock with a serious Zeppelin edge, most of the songs on this album are all on the 5-minute side, which showcase their edge for Page and Co with tracks such as "Hard times go on" with “Ramble on”-licks, “Not alone” with “Good times, bad times”-licks, as well as balladry with “Downhill blues” and the short acoustic “Gaudi’s play”. The vocals could have been better, but it's their songs that are catchy enough to pull you in, making Flow a fairly good representation of the band's ability to create catchy material and prove themselves as good and versatile musicians. Regardless, this debut is certainly entertaining enough. Even if it never really grabs you, it never bores you either. 76/100 Cosmicmasseur. |
