Band : Staind Look what the cat dragged in. The gentlemen of Staind. That’s been a while. A long, long time ago they scored a few World wide hits with ballades like "Outside" and "It’s Been A While". Further than that Staind was rather un noticed in Europe. Mainly in the US they kept on going with lots of success. On top of that frontman Aaron Lewis also build himself a solo carrier and also did something that sounds a lot like country music. Enough of this the band must have toughed and look, out of the blue there’s Staind album number 7. And believe me, it’s worth checking out. First of they found a why to make frontman Aaron Lewis nasal voice sound heavy as fuck. The first two tracks, "Eyes Wide Open" and "Not Again are a real kick in the groin. They never have sounded heavier than this. Specially the blistering guitar of Mike Mushok kicks some major ass. Of course some things stay the same. After 5 or what songs you’ll start to notices the specific sound of the singers voice again. Take for instance "Take A Breath". A heavy song but boring as hell. Never the less I urge you to go and check this record out if you like modern heavy US metal. With Staind the band makes clear that after all those years they still aren’t written off. 80/100 Stef Maes. |
