"Impressive" ....was the only word that came to me when I went through the long list of people that contributed on this record: Paul Stanley, Alice Cooper, Steve Vai,  to name but a few. That any band can get so many big names on board is just amazing. Some will say this is THE ROCK album of the year and that it will be the (international) breakthrough album for Pushking while other critics will say that this sound is totally outdated ...who the fuck is waiting on another tribute album to the (hard)rock of the 70's & 80's.

On "The world as we love it" Russian rockers Pushking deliver 18 tracks if you do not count the roaring intro of 15 seconds which sets off a thrilling rock "n" rollercoaster ride. The first song "Nightrider" could easily have appeared on a ZZ TOP album ...a big thank you Mister Gibbons for your outstanding contribution both on vocals and guitar. "Troubled love" (featuring Alice Cooper and Keri Kellie) gets the rock "n" roll train on the tracks again. Paul Stanley of Kiss takes care of the vocals on "Cut the Wire". It sure brings back  some nice childhood memories. There are, as you can expect, several (power)ballads on the album: "It'll be OK", "Open letter to God", "I love you" & "My simple song"
Songs that would, without any doubt, be  topping the charts in the 80's but I can hardly imagine they would have made it to the charts today. There are some songs worth mentioning: "Nature's Child" featuring Udo Dirkschneider and "Heroin" with Jorn Lande.

The Question you should ask yourself before you think of buying  this: What if it was just Pushking and nothing but Pushking?
My message to Pushking: "try again ..."

65/100
