CD REVIEW Sacred Dawn

Band : Sacred Dawn
Album title : A Madness Within
Label : Qumran Records
Distributor : Connecting Music
Release Date : 22/03/2011
Release : CD

Although they’re hailing from Chicago – USA, Sacred Dawn sound a lot more European, with what I’d call a mix of NWOBHM and progressive metal.

What immediately struck me was that the overall impression I got from  this album was that it’s a rather dark and moody album, which is not surprisingly since this seems to be a concept album.  Besides, with songs called ‘Madness Within’, ‘Delirium’.  Add to those the vocals of Lothar Keller, who has just the right voice for this kind of dark music.
Musically these guys can surely stand their ground. You can say that they have been listening to quite a lot of other bands to amalgamate this into their own style.  I hear traces from Dream Theater, Savatage, Iron Maiden, Nevermore, and the list goes on.

It is however not a masterpiece.  It’s just a good album definitely worth giving it a try.

70/100
