Jerusalem. A Christian hard rock band that hails from Sweden, and seems to exist since the seventies.  Yet I’d never before heard of them.  They released their first album ‘Volume 1’ in 1978, and continued to release more albums, the last being the 1994 ‘Prophet’ album.

After that all became very quiet, as if the prophet had gone into reclusion somewhere in the desert – hey, even if you’ve got to review a Christian band, some puns must be possible.  In 2010 they regrouped, and released a new album ‘She’.  Since I don’t know what their old material sounded like, I cannot judge this new work versus their older.
This band sounds a bit like U2, but then a U2 that swings more towards the hard rock scene.  Even the guitarist-vocalist Ulf Christiansson, in his guitar playing shows many similarities towards the way The Edge plays guitar.
I cannot say I go crazy about this CD.  It has no real highs, no songs that have a real kick, instead they meander along; The artwork is not bad though.  But it’s not a CD I’d buy myself.  It has its musical qualities, in that the songs are well played, but as I mentioned before, it lacks balls, something U2 surely had in its early days.

65/100
