A still quite young band from  France is offering its debut here. The band’s name is Children Of Doom, comes from  la belle Lille (Eden Hazard is a fan?) and was formed in 2008. Fuck Off is a firm collection of fierceless, but enduring and catchy doom metal tunes with a glaring punk ‘fuck off’ rock spirituality. Initially I had expected to be treated with a portion of traditional 80s doom metal and the beginning of opener "Mr Nasty" had strengthened this impression with a driving riff and all, but quite soon it became clear that Children Of Doom play doom metal with quite alot of influences., Children Of Doom prove with tracks like the already mentioned opener "Mr Nasty”, the ST Vitus-cracker  "Bottle ben in the streets" (where I have to admit that the sax solos are rather, ehm, original), the longest far out song “Mia’s desert” also should be mentioned as well as the faster "Technophobia", which comes through quite a bit crunchier. As soon as you get used to the hybrid of Saint Vitus/Amebix/Rev Bizarre/Lamp Of Thoth/Broken Bones (does not take me too long), you need a bit of time again to get used to the voice, because it has a quite own sound, which definitely will not be embraced by everybody out there.
But you'll have to give Fuck Off a few spins to get into, not because of the complexity, but to get used to the different elements and parts indeed only open up once you have heard it for a few times.
