I just knew Leprous from their name until this day. I’ve heard often, that they would be a good band, but I couldn’t convince myself until now. As I received their latest digital copy of Bilateral I was fervent already after the first listening. Progressive metal with elements of jazz, power metal and alt rock is their field of play and with idols like Pain of Salvation, Opeth, Therion, Muse, Devin Townsend Project, Tool, Yes, Pink Floyd, Three, Meshuggah,… they have created a strong album that is likely to give some of their competition a tough time this year and those to come.

There is no weak piece under the ten songs; and the more you’re listening to those numbers, the more will be to discover for you and the more they’ll stick on you.. Experienced producer Jens Bogren has given the songs the right sound, alluring, attacking and ethereal. Songs like ”Forceful entry” or “Painful detour” take you on a journey through unknown dream worlds. You just float on sound carpets, always escorted by Einar Solberg’s sometimes melodic, sometimes crazy and partly aggressive voice.. With every spin, you will find new aspects. Bilateral is a firework of ideas and incredible musicianship, which will drive all prog metal-fans into ecstasy, That pretty epical feeling is drawn throughout the whole playing time.

Who likes the aforementioned bands, should check out Leprous, I for myself will check out the entire catalogue (Bilateral is already the third album of the band) of those guys, ‘cause the music of these Norwegians and backing band of Ihsahn (ex-Emperor), is really enjoyable.
