New Pokerface is a Dutch punk rock band that was founded in 2006. The band still young at that point, already released an EP called “Act The Animal” that same year and a full-length album called “Another Day, Another Religion” (2008). During the years, the band has been touring a lot through the whole of western Europe. Especially The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France and Spain.
Genre- and sound wise, the band has been compared to melodic hardcore/ punk rock bands such as “Rise Against”, “Nothington”, “Craig’s Brother” and “Propagandhi”. Although compared, it doesn’t feel like they are another version of those previously named. It sounds fresh and new. Although there are only 5 songs on this record, they all sound totally different and are easily recognizable from each other.
Another good thing about this band, although they are Dutch, there is no dialect to be found. Witch is something rare. I’m not a big fan of this genre, it does lack something catchy and memorable, but it is fun to listen to. A strange explanation, but it’s something fun to put on in between, when you don’t know what to listen to.
