If you’re a fan of seventies hard rock à la Rainbow or Deep Purple you should check out this debut album by Italian band Voodoo Highway.  I’m always a bit prudent when I’m given a record that’s out on Massacre Records, but this gem is phenomenal.

When mentioning these two rock dinosaurs I do not do complete justice to Voodoo Highway, By  which I mean that there has also been some cross contamination with AC/DC at a certain time, but the genepool from the two aforementioned bands has in one way or another gained the upper hand.
I missed the sound from the Hammond organs of those days, but this album brings it all back.  On the other side of the spectrum though is the fact that this album could have used more guitars, or rather the guitar should have been mixed more to the foreground, to counterbalance the organ sound.  Last remark : the vocals, even if they are not bad, and fit the song structure, are in no ways comparable to Mr. Gillan, but that does not spoil the fun, cause who can stand in the footsteps of mighty Mr. Gillan ?

90/100
