Band : Kevin Costner & Modern West I've no idea what makes this release a "Deluxe" item. For sure, it has nothing to do with the musical material within, because what you get is what you got on Costner's November 2008 album Untold Truths, and February 2010's Turn It On albums. So it must be that the accompanying booklet got a lot of additional photographic material then? Could be, because in support of the Turn It On album Costner took Modern West on a European tour in Spring 2010, before turning their attention to the US (memorable N-American gigs in 2010 include the band's July appearances at Canada's Ottawa Blues Fest and the Craven Country Jamboree (following the release of the band's sophomore album in Canada earlier that same month). In December 2010 KCMW's debut album became available on iTunes in the US. KCMW started 2011 by contributing a song called “Gulf Of Mexico” to benefit Voice Of The Wetlands, an organization involved in the preservation of the wetlands in southern Louisiana, which is still recovering from the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (it is available for download at (www.) voiceofthewetlands.org. Next up, the band was announced to perform at the after party of 2001's Celebrity Fight Night, the annual star-studded gala presented in honor of Muhamed Ali (other performers this year comprising stand-up comedians Billy Crystal and Simbad, plus shows by the bands Matchbox Twenty, Kelly Clarkson, Country singer Lee Greenwood, the Top 12 American Idol finalists, and Bret Michaels. No idea what the band is up to next, live (seems logical that they will be on the road again) or in the studio (and it seems logical that a third album is in the making around about now), but in the meantime those among us not having come across the debut album can now get it, together with the second one. I'm not sure if I wanna rate this, because I'm (in a positive sense) prejudiced about this band! Tony. |
