Graveyard is a band from Sweden that was formed in 2006 when a band called Norrsken died. Upon their initial formation, Graveyard quickly recorded a two-track demo, played a total of three shows, and began working on a full-length album with Swedish boutique label, Transubstans Records. Their debut album, entitled Graveyard, was released in early 2008. Following the recording of said collection, the band saw the replacement of guitarist Truls Mörck with Jonatan Ramm, after Truls left. That debut album actually received good reviews and launched the carrier for Joakim Nilsson, Rikard Edlund, Axel Sjöberg and Jonatan Ramm.
After their good share of success, a successor for their previous album couldn’t be that far away, still it took the guys 3 years, but finally their new album Hisingen Blues is hitting stores next week.
When people in the rock genre hear that a band comes from up north, it could mean either 2 things. Metal like “In Flames” or “At The Gates”, or strange rock like “The Rasmus”. But when looking at their band name “Graveyard you automatically go for option number one. Surprisingly the band brings neither of those 2. Instead they deliver swinging and grooving desert rock with here and there the typical bluesy slower songs. It’s a raw, pure and real blues/rock album. Not that rare these days, but rare in the fact that it’s a damn good one where certain songs can make you imagine you are standing in the dessert. Must have for rock and blues fans.
