Band : She Rides This Providence (RI) based quintet (composed of George Radford, William Kalalas, Chansarith Hong, Andrew Steverman and Daniel Joseph Brown) apparently formed in 2006, and they've since brought their high-energy rollercoaster riff-upon-riff Rock 'n' Roll on stages supporting and/ or obliterating the likes of Gallows, Cancer Bats, Every Time I Die, Disfear, Valient Thorr, and The Bronx among numerous others. The info babble on the band's facebook includes this funny passage which I feel I simply shouldn't hold back from you, so here it is: “...She Rides is what Bon Scott would have sounded like if he knew he was having his last drink. They are the beat that John Bonham would play if he knew the same thing...and they shred like the riff Randy Rhoads would have played if he knew his plane was going down...” HUH!!!? When comparing that statement with the music at hand, I realized a lot of those words are wishful thinking...and pure misleading sales propaganda to boot! However... ...a rollercoaster of one catchy and interesting riff upon the other, the band's music has some merits of its own! Stylistically, you could categorize She Rides in the High Octane Garage Rock scene, with a singer whom shouts his lyrics with a somewhat mid-high and slightly hoarse pitch. I'm sure that when you've listened to the 4 tracks at (www.) myspace.com/sheridesmusic, you will agree wholeheartedly that in their category SR are in fact an outstanding band! Huh...feel like hearing more? There's actually some extra tracks at the band's facebook page (must be off the self-titled LP the band released earlier on Stillborn Records)! So...seek, find, listen, and enjoy! 94/100 Tony. |
