“We Are The Damned” is a hardcore/death ‘n roll was formed in September 2007 in Portugal by Ricardo Correia and Paulo Lafaia. Two old friends that decided to create a project where they could incorporate all their favorite elements and bands influences and make something of their own. Once this word came out, the band quickly got singed, released an album and new some slight success like filling in opening slots for bigger bands that came to visit Portugal.
Now after all that time the band is about to release a new album called “Holly Beast”. The album counts 14 tracks and lasts just over 50 minutes and that is one of the few good facts I can come up with about this one.
Although you can feel that the band is really trying to appear hard, cool and brutal, they actually fail at this and sound dull and cant seem to keep you interested. The songs themselves aren’t really appealing, what is a shame when you have 14 songs on a record and not one jumps out but instead all sound the same (except for the intro track).
Although I’m glad for these guys that they had the honor and chance to open up for bands like: Napalm Death, Suffocation, Cancer Bats, Arch Enemy, Misery Index, Marduk, Municipal Waste, Anathema, Moonspell, Sinister Akerkocke, Insidious Decrepancy, Converge, Warbringer, Despise and several others, but this actually amazes me how they got the chance to do that and fail epically with a record so poor in quality on every front.
49/100
