Golden Resurrection was born in 2008. It started when Tommy Johansson (Reinxeed) and Christian Liljegren (Audio Vision Divine Fire, ex-Narnia) started to write songs together and founded same minded spirits in Stefan Knack, Rickard Gustafsson (Pantokrator) and Olov Andersson (Audio Vision).
The combination of these artists brings a smooth neo classical metal sound forth combined with Christian elements. Nothing new in the metal genre except that this time the use Christianity in a positive way, but for anyone who is familiar with the previous work of Liljegren, and that of the other band members, their fate and the way they bring it will not come as a surprise. Also it feels like the band has a creed to keep things as positive as possible.
The album is fast, melodic and at some points reminds me of Malmsteen or Firewind. The religious side of it isn’t my cup of tea and definitely won’t be for everyone. Strange and like a crusader or zealot this band is, the record is actually fun to listen to and is a big change from anti religion metal bands.
Apart from how it sounds, instrumentally it is very impressive to hear neo classical guitar riffs shred by like a heavy metal train. Downside to this is the lack of variety in sound and you probably will get lost during the songs that all sound the same.
