Band : Chickenfoot Take two guitars, add a bass guitar and drums, and then unite some musical magicians, and hey presto, here’s Chickenfoot’s new album III. Strange, cause this is their second album, but as the music is of a very high quality I’ll not bother about it. This is straight forward hard rock at it’s best. I’ve always liked Sammy Hagar, be it with his own band or with Van Halen, no matter where and whom with, he always delivers a great performance. Couple this with a rhythm section consisting of Michael Anthony (ex Van Halen) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on drums, and for the icing on the cake Joe Satriani on guitars. It’s very hard to pick out a favorite track, as this album is full of great tracks, so I’ll pick out a few. Right from the start they kick in the door with ‘Last Temptation’, two songs down the road it’s some kind of semi-ballas ‘Come Closer’ that stole my heart, and then comes track n° 5 ‘Lighten Up’, but absolutely one of the best tracks on the album is track n° 8 ‘Big Foot’, which could easily have come from a country & western album if you ask me. And then comes track n° 9 ‘Dubai Blues’, which is a very good song as well, although a bit strange maybe for Chickenfoot, since this song gives a sneer to the American economical situation. This is an album that will definitely make it to my top 10 list of 2011 albums. I hesitatingly must even admit that at times this album reminded me of the original Van Halen – ‘For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge’ era. 98/100 Erik Morren. |
