Band : Girlschool Back in the eighties few were the all-female metal or hard rock bands. One of them, if not one of the most important was Girlschool. I did like them back then, even if you couldn’t deny that they owed a lot to Motörhead. To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the release of their second album ‘Hit And run’ in 1981 they decided that time was ripe for a re-release, just like other bands like Twisted Sister, Manowar to name but a few at a certain time also thought the world was ready for a re-release of one of their previous albums. Now what cannot be denied is that after thirty years these songs still sound as good and fresh as they did then. And whilst re-recording these old songs, the sound has of course greatly benefited with the new recording standards, in the same time keeping most of their old sound and still sound very recognizable. But I prefer the original record nevertheless. 80/100 Erik Morren. |
