The Answer is a Northern Irish hard rock and blues rock band from Ireland. The band were formed in 2000 by guitarist Paul Mahon. Paul being 18 at that time, knew he wanted to put together a rock band and mentioned it to bassist Micky Waters, an old school friend who had been in numerous cover bands and immediately joined the project.
James Heatley, who had played as a stand-in live drummer, was recruited to be the drummer for The Answer. In late June 2000, the band got together for their debut rehearsal, and 2001 was spent writing, rehearsing, gigging locally and building up their set.
Now, the Irish rockers released their latest studio album on October 3th via Spinefarm Records/Universal. The record is what it is, a hard rock/blues rock record. Somewhat in the genre of “Black Stone Cherry” but here and there you can recognize other influences like “AC/DC”. It’s also a mature album, they can clearly hear that the guys are having fun but prove they aren’t just another bunch of kids playing the same that everyone does.
A different kind of release, but certainly not a bad one. It’s nice to hear something else once in a while and playing hard rock/blues rock makes them stand out from the rest. Definitely worth listening to.
