The stream of releases of live albums seems endless these days, and apparently Electric Light Orchestra couldn’t escape the dance either. This is stuff taken from the original ZOOM Tour, as a matter of fact it’s material taken from the inaugural show in 2001 at Los Angeles CBS’ Television City.

This show was already available on DVD, but on this album there are some extra tracks, as well as two previously unreleased studio tracks ‘Out Of Luck’ and ‘Cold Feet’. To be honest, I really don’t hear that much difference between an ELO studio album, and this live album.  Of course these are all well versed musicians, who have been in the business for some forty years or so.

Not being a devoted ELO fan, once again hearing their great songs like ‘Mr. Blue Sky’,  ‘Can’t Get It Out Of My Head’, ‘Don’t Bring Me Down’ and their version of Chuck Berry’s ‘Roll Over Beethoven’ brought a great smile on my face.  How sad it is that this excellent music is now greatly underrated and almost never played on radio stations anymore.  This at last is music that lasts, and is still recognized twenty or thirty years later.
