Originally this recording was only recorded for Japanese TV.  It’s the performance Whitesnake gave during the LOUD PARK festival on October 15th at Saitame Super ArenaWhen some songs were broadcasted on a Loud Park Highlights program in Japan, many people saw this, and requests were made for general release of this performance.

I liked Whitesnake back in the eighties, and I still like some of their songs, but this record… was a bit disappointing for me.  Although musically it rocks, somewhere I got the feeling the performance lacked some balls.  When I listened to this version of ‘Is This Love’ it seemed as if this was a version destined to be played in an elderly home…  On the other hand I’ve never heard the guitar tandem of Doug Aldrich and Reb Beach playing that energetically.  The vocals of David Coverdale are also very good, but still there seems to be something lacking.

I can’t judge the DVD version, as I only got the CD’s, so I’ll give them the credit of the doubt.

Why in heaven’s name they’ve decided to put the sound check on this release as well is even more of a mistery to me.  And on top of that they’ve included both a drum solo and some sort of six string duel on this CD.

I guess this release is strictly reserved for die-hard Whitesnake fans.
