Zeno Morf

Once assed  the intro “Souls of a frozen earth” dies out, it becomes immediately  clear what we’ve got on our plate, no nonsense heavy metal as if crafted in the  eighties… ZENO MORF from Norway provide us singalong heavy  metal with no doubt can be appreciated by a many headbangers who are still convinced that it’s 1984  and not 2014 and there is nothing wrong with that.  Granted the vocals of ERIK Westerlund are not exactly at the same level as let’s say mr Dirkscneider or a certain guy named Halford.  You also w

Onward - Reawaken

US power metal firmly  rooted in the  2nd  half  of the  eighties one would think,   but a closer look tells me that  both the  “ Evermoving” and  “ Reawaken”  where actually released  in 2001 and 2002 through Century Media,  now in 2014 , Pure Steel Records, has decided to  release  a very limited vinyl version of these records, limited to just 250 each.  Both releases   let us hear a band  which knew how to write a decent song and no doubt where fans of  such bands  as  Sanctuary, Nevermore, H

Primeval Realm

Primeval Realm sit firmly in the classic school of doom metal, but what more can I say? Primordial Light ain't a bad seven tracks of music, it's nicely played, quite well produced but ultimately lacks being special. While this 40-minute CD displays the members' talents, it also leaves me to wonder what more they can do to expand on the sound they're slowly developing.

Steel Prophet

To celebrate the anniversary of the ‘The Goddess Principle’ album that came out in 1995, Pure Steel Records will do a rerelease of the album.

Steel Prophet is an American power metal band that started in 1983 and still goes strong. A few months ago the band released a statement the they’re very busy on writing new songs but in the meantime their recordlabel comes with this release.

Aska

Aska was born during the alternative and grunge music movement of the early 90's, and is from Texas. The band can best be described as traditional power/heavy metal in the same line as “Judas Priest”. The band consists of George Call (vocals, guitar), Keith Knight (vocals, bass), Chris Menta (guitar), Danny White (drums) and Dave Harvey (bass).

Axehammer

After seven years of silence, Axehammer have finally released their second full- length called “Marching On”. This album was produced by Bill Metoyer, whose privilege was to record classics such as Slayer, Sacred Reich, Flotsam And Jetsam end Fates Warning.

In Aevum Agere

While hardly the most original band in the world, In Aevum Agere treats the listener with slow and mid tempo doom and epic metal. The riffing and vocal melodies show the unmistakable influence of Solitude Aeturnus, Candlemass, Warning,…but the production could be punched up a little bit. The vocals fit the gloomy music very well, but next time he has to put more emotion and power into his singing lines. The band sounds tight and tends to work in the service of the songs rather than to showing off their technical chops.
