Stargazery

Four years after their debut album ‘Eye On The Sky’, Finnish Stargazery releases it’s successor ‘Stars Aligned’.  Thae album contains 13 very good tracks, the last of which is sung in their mother tongue.

Mourning Mist

It is not that unusual anymore that a (Black) Metal band uses violin or viola in its songs. But in this case it’s a violin player that formed a Black Metal project, i.e. a guy called Ecnerual. Under the Mourning Mist moniker, he recorded this self-titled six-track studio album, assisted by several colleagues amongst whom bass player Kvasir, known from e.g. Abhor, Spiritual, Profezia or Ancient Supremacy.

Level 10

What is the result when you join Russel Allen (Symphony X, Adrenaline Mobb) and Mat Sinner (Sinner, Primal Fear,…) ?  A highly explosive, volatile cocktail that brings us a fantastic metal album.  To complete the lineup, there’s Randy Black on drums, and Alex Beyrodt on guitar but also Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline, Voodoo Circle) on guitars, and finally Roland Grapow (ex Hellowe

Last Autumn’s Dream

Last Autumn’s Dream was formed in 2002 by Mikael Erlandsson from Sweden on vocals, and German guitarist Andy Malecek from Fair Warning.  For their debut album that was released in 2003 they had the aid of John Levén, Ian Haugland and Mic Michaeli, all members from Europe.   But when Europe reunited, they had to find some replacements.  In came Marcel Jacob (Talisman), Jamie Borger (

Impera

Having reviewed other Impera albums in the past, I was surprised when I heard this album. It sounds a tad heavier than I’m used to with Impera.  This is their third album, and if you ask me their best so far.

H.E.A.T

Having so far released 4 full studio albums, this is the first live album by this stunning band, recorded live  at the Garage in London on16th May 2014 during their first ever headline tour.

Dawn Of A Dark Age

In June 2014, Dawn Of A Dark Age released their first chapter of a six-piece concept about the six elements. Six? Well, actually, this hexaptych will deal with five elements, i.e. earth, water, fire, air and spirit, each sonically defined in an own album, with the sixth part being some general conclusion.

Broken Down

Sometimes it’s a hard job to be a reviewer. Like in this case. I do not know, even after three listens, what to think about this album. Do I like it or not? Is it the masochistic part within me that makes me enjoy this material despite being extremely irritating, or is it a hidden temptation poisoning the listeners’ mind? Really, I have no idea…

Ensiferum

I first saw Ensiferum when they did a support gig for Children Of Bodom on 12th May 2011 in Luxembourg's Rockhal and I was enthralled right from the start. Never before had I seen a support act,  that was so full of infectious energy. They blew me away as soon as they played their first notes. In the end I liked Ensiferum 1.000 times more than the actual headliner of that evening. After that show I immediately got their whole discography.

Putrid Evocation

Most extreme bands from Chile pay tribute to the old school, and in Putrid Evocation’s case it is not different either. This young band released some demos and one EP (Blackness Enshroud, 2013, via Chilean Apocalyptic Productions), and now the trio comes up with their debut album, Echoes Of Death. It gets released via Spanish top-label Xtreem Music, of course, and lasts for forty two minutes.
