German warriors Asenblut return with their second full length studio album, after 2009’s Aufbruch. In promotion to that debut release, the band played on many festivals, such as Heidensturm, Metalfest and R.U.D.E. A short while ago, the quartet (Claus, Tetzel, Phil and Balrogh) entered the famous Stage One Studio with one of the most experienced producers, Andy Classen, who gave this record an organic and energetic sound. But that wonderful sound isn’t the only positive thing to mention. In comparison to the past, the songs are more mature and coherent, bringing some international allure into the whole. Von Worten Und Taten became a pretty varying album at last.

Actually, the album brings a mixture of melodic and technical stuff, both modern and traditional, combining elements from Pagan / Viking material, and both Thrash-edged Death and Black material. It’s up-tempo, rhythmic and powerful, driven by epic pride and catchy song writing. However, I think it sounds much too safe, too clinical, too homely. These epics aren’t bad (at all), but I think there’s so much comparable material available lately, and Asenblut aren’t the most convincing band in my personal opinion. You don’t need to agree (as if I should care), but don’t say I didn’t warn you.
