Avitas

One of the nicest guys I came in touch with in 2014 must be Canadian musician Myrtroen. ‘myrtroen’ is the Norse spelling of this guy’s great grandfather’s name when the latter moved over from Norway to North America (first the U.S., then Canada; Myrtroen still lives in Canada); we’re talking about more than a century ago – but this isn’t a etymologic essay, so let’s continue with the merits of the guy behind Avitas.

Aun / Lands Of Conifer

You might have heard of the Noise / Drone / Ambient label Death Carnival Records before. If not, stay tuned, for I will write and upload a handful of releases from that French label in the near future, and on February 15th I uploaded one for a split in between HgM and L_Arsenne. Death Carnival Records are a label run by e.g.

Burning Cyborg

The (young) duo Burning Cyborg (Nikolay Sergeev and Airborne Drumz) joined forces with Vleesklak Records and Legs Akimbo for the release of their 45 RPM 7”EP Entering Digital Infinity. It’s a very short six-tracker, with three elegies on each side (average duration: one whole minute!), and coming with highly attractive artwork… No further comment…

Absolutus

Absolutus are an act from the French-speaking part of Belgium (Liege, to be more specific), known for their releases with Latin titles. They have been extremely silent for more than seven years, but now they did return with their second full length, called Pugnare In Iis Quae Obtinere Non Possis. It was recorded at the Blackout Studio and it has a total running time of thirty three minutes. And I can, and will, be very limitedly focused right here.

Fetid Zombie

One of the many projects with Mark Riddick is Fetid Zombie. In a very near future I will write and upload a review on the Sepulchral Voices LP, which includes four bands / projects, amongst which Fetid Zombie. But that’s for one of the next days / weeks.

Ephemeral Ocean

Moscow-based Ephemeral Ocean are quite a young band, formed in 2013. In April 2014 the band self-released a demonstrational MCD / EP, Honour In The Mask, and after some line-up changes, they did enter the studio again to record their debut full length. The result, by the way, was mixed and mastered at the famous Priority Recording Studio by nobody else but Esoteric’s Greg Chandler (!).

Celtic Dance

Celtic Dance are a Portuguese band formed two decades ago by Laldaboath, Tzaboath and Conquerer. After the recording of the 1998-debut Ancient Battlecry, Laldaboath and Tzaboath decided to leave, but Conquerer continued his activities with Celtic Dance. FYI: the re-release of that strong debut album was reviewed by undersigned and posted on this site on July 13th 2014.

Sidus Mortuorum

Despite about eight years of existence, Ukrainian outfit Sidus Mortuorum has been low-productive in releases. After a demo in 2009, they came up with their debut album Endless Funeral (Nocturnus Records, 2010), and a second one in 2012, called Coffin Slaves (independently released the digital way) – oh yes, there was a single in between both albums.

Moloch (Verwüstung)

Like many Moloch-releases (a couple of hundreds), Verwüstung too has been re-released, re-re-released and re-re-re-rereleasedreleasedrereleased several times before. Actually, I wrote a review for this specific album, one of the CD-editions, for the re-release on Hidden Marly Production – see update June 7th 2015.

SpermBloodShit

Italian Grind-combo SBS aka SpermBloodShit did satisfy our perverted ear drums more than once in the past, and all sick-minded amongst us will be pleased to welcome this newest vinyl-effort with open arms! Grinding Under The Influence, well, the title says it all, so here ends my review. Enjoy…
