Poobah

Poohbah this bands name doesn’t ring a bell to me. When search them on the net: founded in 1972, Youngstown, OH, United States. Made 10 studio albums from 1972 till 2007. Line the last time was: Jim Gustafson (Zang, Gitaar), Phil Jones (Bas, Zang), Ken Smetzer (Toetsen, Zang) and Gen Procopio (Drums). Jim Gustatson is the driving force of the group and the only original from the beginning.

Mantar

Something of a surprise from one half German/the other half Turkish duo , Mantar mix some notable ferociousness of their own into the typical formula. The sound of Death by Burning is not too far from the usual standards as far as songwriting goes, but the venomous vocals and vicious dark attitude add a genuine touch to the music, being sometimes reminiscent of Melvins, Darkthrone, Amebix, Motorhead and Frost with a similar rough quality.

Incuria

Incuria is an Canadian theatrical hard-rock band based in Vancouver, BC. Playing a blend of hard rock, prog and metal instrumentals with high vocals. Members are Phil Gardner (Drums), Kyle Gruninger (Vocals), Jim McLaren (Keys) ,Jono Olson (Bass) and Royce Whittaker (Guitar). They started the group in 2009 an this is their first

Eisregen

It wasn’t quite the case during the early years of this band, but since about a decade, I find it quite an exciting experience to listen to new material by German act Eisregen. I couldn’t really enjoy the first albums they did, but as from half of the 2000’s, they do draw my attention, for the material became much more interesting. The band comes close, in mean time, to its twentieth anniversary, and with Todestage, they deliver their tenth album.

Bone Man

Bone Man from Kiel, Germany have an interesting, rather original and distinct sound. Especially the first few minutes raise high expectations as “Dead weight” with fantastic guitarwork and the psychedelic floating “Closer to the sun” in particular are quite memorable..What I like about this album is the way Los Natas/ Colour Haze-like guitar parts are blended with earpleasing indie, even grungy rocking parts.

Midnight Odyssey & The Crevices Below & Tempestuous Fall

Everything I, Voidhanger Records (an independent division of Aeternitas Tenebrarum Music Foundation aka ATMF Records) do is of a superior quality. This wonderful label releases nothing but excellent stuff, and this time it is not different. With Converge, Rivers Of Hell, this Italian label compiles material from three solo-projects by an Australian guy who calls himself Dis Pater (I have no idea who the person behind those projects is, but actually it does not matter, does it).

Abyssal

There are many bands that are called Abyssal, but this review deals with the second album by the so-called band from the United Kingdom, recorded shortly after the release of 2012’s Denouement.

The Suicide Kings

Those among you interested in this German Hardcore Punk act's history (which started at the beginning of 2005) might wanna check the review (posted somewhere in May 2011) I did for the band's previous album Menticide which, much to my personal surprise, got some very nice reviews from the likes of Rock Hard (gave the thing a 7,5/10 rating and a positive “Thumbs Up” - well, I also gave it that rating, for effort, and a definite “thumbs down”, you know!) and EMP!
