As the attentive reader knows in meantime, Hells Headbangers do re-release much stuff from the vault that might need some new attention. I am not gonna list up the stuff I did in the past, but believe me when I say that this label is capable to focus on the right material (check out any of the formerly written reviews on the site, including different Hells Headbangers-specials).
This Alternative Heavy Rock/ Metal band was founded in Crema (a town squarely between Milano, Bergamo, Brescia, and Piacenza, in the Central North of Italy) under the monicker of Metal Federal Reserve during 2010, and originally consisted of the foursome Simone Picco (singer), Alessandro Cannatelli guitarist), Andrea Brambilla (bass) and Gianmario Oliveri (drums), whom originally had the idea to start a band with Italian singing.
I think it’s useless, and a waste of time, to make a full introduction on Satyricon. This Norwegian duo (Frost and Satyr Wongraven) is Elite in different aspects. I still consider their earliest works, and their debut full length Dark Medieval Times more specifically, as CULT, but since they turned into a rather Post-Black oriented form of Musical Extremism, they reached a wider audience; but still they deserve it.
Red Fang entered the game in 2009 with their self titled debut, formed by Bryan G., Aaron B., David S., John S., quickly establishing themselves on the world’s underground scene as a powerful riff machine. Early shows with Helmet and Crowbar gained respect from crouds, press and peers alike, showcasing a fresh, soulful and high octane live rock experience
Lübeck (North Of Germany, situated some 65 km NW from Hamburg), May 2009 : guitarist Benjamin Botev decided to found a band which would bring both brutal yet never too simple Thrash Metal. For his initial accomplices, he picks singer Dennis Schwartz (then just recently departed from the now defunct Thrash Metal act Smoking Valves), a bassist known only as Björn, and a drummer denominated as “Pit”. “Initial accomplices”, meaning changes were due in the line-up later on.
Apparently this young Dallas-based act (as a matter of fact, they did exist a time ago but without anything important to add, and they did reform recently) consists of former or current members from e.g. Kill The Client, Baring Teeth and Tyrannosorceress, so you surely can imagine a specific angle of technically-oriented aggression for sure. And indeed, that’s what Cleric stand for. The band did record this debut full length studio album with Garry Brents, known from e.g.
The music takes the time to get the musical message across and while there aren't many show-off passages there is a huge amount of detail in the numerous instruments and vocals that will show themselves on repeated listens. Zappa, King Crimson and even Motorpsycho fans will be able to mine Carpet’s rich seams of passionate, beautifully crafted songs till their minds are buried in Elysian Fields.
Pennsylvania's Argus stormed onto the underground metal scene with their doom/progressive metal sound. They released a self-recorded demo in early 2007 on “Bland Hand Records”. Their self-titled debut album soon followed and was released in May of 2009.
To those music lovers at home in the world of Progressive Death Metal, the Swede Dan Swanö will be somewhat of a legend, known in the first place from his fronting role as lead singer/ bassist in the bands/ projects Edge Of Sanity, Nightingale (where he was the drummer), and Bloodbath (where he handles both drums and guitar.
The story behind this interstellar collaboration? Sure!
