The Australian combo Black Jesus, with former and current members of e.g. Whitehorse, Pneumatic Slaughter and The Berzerker, was formed in 2008 in the city of Melbourne, and during their existence they gained quite some popularity in their home country. An audible result is their live album Fucked…..Live. Via Australian Grindhead Records, they also released a split 7”EP (with Dark Horse), and now, finally, they come up with their debut full length, Everything Black Everything Dead. The result lasts for thirty two minutes, and it includes Black Jesus’ contribution of the split-EP I mentioned.

What Black Jesus bring with Everything Black Everything Dead differs a lot from most combos the members are or were involved with. Black Jesus perform a pushing and highly groovy form of Thrash / Black Metal with quite some technical structures and riffs, based on the traditional scene. Despite the traditional basics, the album sounds modern, or better: timeless. The main riffing is shredding, with a massive rhythm section, some sharp-edged soloing, USDM-oriented technical leads and guttural trash-grunts. It has nothing special to offer, but this band just performs nice rot’n’rolling cacophonies… I have nothing more to say, I think it might be clear right now…

Recommended if you like Repulsion, NunSlaughter, Brutal Truth, Autopsy, Napalm Death, Terrorizer etc.
