Devilment

I’ll be very short about this release. Devilment were formed by Daniel Finch in 2011. Since he was looking for a singer that could fulfil his ideas, he contacted his friend Dani Filth, you know, that pretty boy from Cradle Of Filth, who immediately agreed to co-operate. After Dani finished his part for the Cradle Of Filth-album The Manticore And Other Horrors, he did the vocals for the Devilment-demo Grotescapology.

Darkher

Jayn Hanna Wissenberg started the solo-outfit Darkher after she did put her former band The Steals on hiatus. She wrote and recorded three tracks that would eventually be self-released, untitled and in an edition of 100 copies only (I guess it was via her own Faun Records-label, which also released The Steals-material), but the stuff was too good to stay so extremely limited.

Cemetery Filth

Cemetery Filth are a band that were formed in early 2014, but immediately they do impress a lot. And with ‘a lot’, I mean a lot! The quartet, i.e. vocalist / guitar player Matt Kilpatrick, drummer Jonah Turner, guitarist Ryan Guinn, and bassist Neal Williams, recorded their part at different locations and at different moments, since they live in different areas in North-Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

Caskets Open

The Finnish three-piece Caskets Open were formed in 2007 as some tribute-band (not a cover band) to the likes of Saint Vitus, Reverend Bizarre etc. Soon these doomsters reached a widely-appreciated live-status, and after a first demo (Buried Upside Down) they were offered a deal by several labels. Eventually Caskets Open recorded their debut album But You Rule to have it released via Germany’s Streaks Records.

Bone Cracker

Bone Cracker (or Bonecracker) are a band from the city of Minsk, Russia, formed about two years ago. They had a one-track single earlier this year to promote their upcoming debut full length, and that song indeed appears on Пopoku. Apparently this material, and then I am referring to the album and not that single track only, was originally released on tape via Zombi Records.

Black Jesus

The Australian combo Black Jesus, with former and current members of e.g. Whitehorse, Pneumatic Slaughter and The Berzerker, was formed in 2008 in the city of Melbourne, and during their existence they gained quite some popularity in their home country. An audible result is their live album Fucked…..Live.

Black Demon Rites

Black Demon Rites are a Swedish trio (Helge, Björn and Micke) that signed Misanthropic Generation Media’s roster in order to release their Motmänniskan-recording on tape. It’s the second release for that label, which focuses on the release of cassette-editions only, after På Fortvivlans Krön by Svartä; for the review on this tape, check out the update done on November 10th 2014.

Astarium

Since I already wrote about the history and discography of this project in the reviews I recently did for the (re) release of Wyrm Of Melancholy (see update November 11th 2014) or Atenvx (updated on December 1st 2014), I will refer to them. I will go immediately to the review of the aural part for this mini-album, which was recorded once again by SiN at the SH Studio (from December 2013 till February 2014).

Zarach ‘Baal’ Tharagh - Y’ha-Nthlei

When I saw that there was a split in between Zarach ‘Baal’ Tharagh and Y’ha-Nthlei, I experienced some form of happiness, I think. I know that happiness is an emotion that can’t kill you, but still I was shocked. Was it good? Was it bad? Did I need to see the psy? Anyway, soon I returned to reality, hailing blasphemy, misanthropy, anger, desolation and melancholy, but deep inside me there was a voice crying out: ‘thank you, Nitroatmosphericum, for this present’…

Weed Is Weed

Let’s be honest: Weed Is Weed as band’s moniker… You might have a clue what this stuff would sound like / would be dealing about, don’t you. Besides, the band consists of members currently or formerly involved with the likes of Earthride, Spirit Caravan, Bobby Liebling’s Ram Family, Pentagram and Land Of Doom, so you cannot deny it anymore: this must be hazy and psychedelic Doom. And indeed, it is!
