Snuff // Hiroshima is the third full length album (the band recorded some EP’s and released a DVD as well in mean time) by German act Fäulnis, a project by Ben ‘Seuche’ (the one from BlackShore and Sakramortem, not the guy involved with e.g. Pestkult or Northern Hate). It lasts for fifty minutes and appears as regular CD and as double 12” vinyl long player.
Austrian Harakiri For The Sky (I have to admit that this moniker is pretty original, though probably somewhat silly???) are a young band (formed in winter 2011-2012) that debuted in 2012 with a self-titled full length (also through Germany’s Art Of Propaganda). Pretty soon after, this release got followed by several live shows with bands like Fäulnis, Heretoir or Whiskey Ritual in their home country, yet also in Germany and Italy.
Californian band Gravehill was formed in 2001, but they had a short-lived history with one EP only (which was called Practitioners Of Fell Sorcery). The band split up shortly after, but in 2007 they reformed, with the EP Metal Of Death somewhat later that very same year, and 2009’s Rites Of The Pentagram as proof of their glorious comeback.
I do not think that I am exaggerating if I say that Enthroned are one of the most important names ever that hail from Belgium when it comes to (Black) Metal. I do follow them as from the very beginning (as a matter of fact, I was following most of the members’ former bands too, and then we’re talking about more than two and a half decades ago).
Entartung are a German duo (vocalist / bassist / keyboardist Vulfolaic and drummer / guitarist Lykormas) that could please the audience enormously with their 2012-debut Krypteia (also on World Terror Committee), and all those who did appreciate this debut will surely adore this sophomore full length too. Main reason is that Peccata Mortalia totally continues the path once started with Krypteia.
Swedish Dark Legacy were formed in 1996 as Rest In Peace. Back then, the band played brutal Heavy / Power Metal, both own songs as well as covers. Rest In Peace was very active as live-band, and they did millions of gigs (or at least more than hundred). In 2005, the band underwent some important and determining modifications. The line-up changed and the members wanted to play a darker and more oppressive form of Extreme Metal.
Liverpool-based act Coltsblood was formed in 2010 by John McNulty shortly after he left Conan, but it took quite some time before the band showed on with material. 2013 saw the release of the demo Beyond The Lake Of Madness (self-released on tape, and done on vinyl a couple of months later on via Ulthar Records), and that very same year there was a split-EP as well, with city fellowmen of Crypt Lurker.
First of all: this EP will be released in a limited edition of 400 ‘normal’ copies (i.e. black vinyl) and 100 so-called splatter-vinyl ones. Outcome: hurry up!
Cemetery Fog are a very young band from Finland, originally consisting of V. Kettunen (d), J. Filppu (v, g), and J. Rantala (g). After the demo tapes Journey To Hell and Sepulchral Full Moon, the trio (J. Rantala left in mean time, and the band recently recruited bass player J. Peltonen) returned with a third demonstrational cassette recording, Shadows from The Cemetery, which has a total running time of about twenty three minutes.
Usually, when Sepulchral Productions appear, and with a band or project from the Québec-region, I become horny and hungry for this material shall be some grim and epic form of (often Nordic-inspired) Black Metal Supremacy. So you can imagine the enormous question-mark on my face when I listened to this EP for the first time.
