You have to go back to 2007 for the previous album from Vanishing Point. Why It took them this long is anyone’s guess. Of course to say this band is prolific is an understatement. This is only their fifth since their formation in the early nineties.
Sweden and desert rock a match made in heaven…… Dozer, Greenleaf, Spiritual Beggers, to name a few besides Truckfighters.. “UNIVERSE” is the 4 th full length of these dudes, and what an album this is…… I dare say that calling “Universe” a stonerrock release is a actually labelling the band which something they have at least partially outgrown…. Outgrown in a positive manner that is.
I am not going to sum up all Quebecois bands and projects I do like, because it would be a waste of time for everyone involved (you as reader, and I as writer), but I did mention it a thousand times before: the Black Metal scene out there is TOP! Métal Noir, as one might call it… And one of the most outstanding projects is called Sombres Forêts, a solo-outfit by a guy called Annatar. This guy had a side-project a while ago, called Miserere Luminis, in collaboration with both members of Gris.
“Sinbreed” was founded as Neoshine, and made it to release three demos under that name, but was forced to change to “Sinbreed” in order to avoid legal issues with an homonymous American company. A german metal group’ delivers fresh blood to the scene with their uncompromising, medolic power/speed metal. Current line-up: Herbie Langhans (vocals), Flo Laurin (guitars), Marcus Siepen (guitars), Alexander Schulz (bass) and Frederik Ehmke (drums).
The Virus Conspires hit the decks with full on angry US (Death Angel, Exodus, Heathen, Forbidden) and German (Kreator, Destruction , Tankard) sounding-like thrash metal like “Kingdome come”, “Titan” and “Pseudocommando” with exceptional guitar solos, pounding drums and a Petrozza-like growl bite that hurts for days. Such songs as “22” and “Red Terror” to name but a few explore the passion, blood and sweat that is spread throughout the CD.
Salem .. one of those names that might sound familiar with those metal heads who have a more than average interest in NWOBHM.
Long gone are the days that an Italian Metal album was a rarity, these days not a week seems to go by without yet another Italian release. This time it’s Pleonaxia, if I look at the meaning of the word Pleonexia, I am told it’s “the insatiable desire to have what rightfully belongs to others“…..
Oi no, this ain't a new album from the short-lived South Carolina band...too bad, by the way...but a long-due re-issue of the band's one and only full-length album!
The Hesperia-project is run by multi-instrumentalist Hesperus, once member of Sulphuria. He started this solo-outfit somewhere during the nineties, in order to pay tribute to the ancient, and mystical / mythological / mythical glory of a rich ‘pre-Italian’ past. At the beginning of this century, Hesperus and his Hesperia-project started working on a four-part conceptual masterwork, based on Virgilio’s Eneide aka Aeneidos.
Behind this solo project is one George Hirsch, singer for legendary Philadelphia based Hardcore outfit Blacklisted, which has been in existence since the early 2000s.
