Malignant Records are such label that often (actually: most of the time) come up with something that deeply inspires and surprises. Actually, I have not ever been disappointed by any release, though I have, since I am a human being (or at least I am trying to act like one, from time to time), my preferred ones, and that means some lesser releases in my personal opinion, for what it’s worth. But hey, that has to do with subjectivity, something man cannot escape from, of course.
Voronezh, about 200 kilometres North-East from the border with Ukraine, is a city with a vivid (Extreme) Metal scene. Sterbefall, Effluo, Ravencry, Memorial (nowadays active as NorthZyklon), Skyfall, and so on – for several of them I did write a review in the past. It’s home too for Suffer In Paradise. This band was formed at the very end of last decade, but with exception of the recording of a demo, and probably some local gigs, nothing adventurous happened.
During the first half of the nineties, I did know a Polish band with the name Pagan Temple. I had not heard of them anymore since then, and investigation turned out to define their dissolution in 1996 after just over three years of existence. Anyway, when my dearest brother-in-pure-law K. did send me the album The Warriors Of Black Circles by a Polish band called Pagan Temple, I couldn’t imagine that it would deal with the very same band.
One of the many interesting bands on Belgium’s finest Immortal Frost Productions must be Atra Vetosus hailing from the Australian isle of Tasmania. This supreme Black Metal label from Flemish soil did release this band’s demo A Palace Shrouded In Emptiness, followed by two strong albums, Voices From The Eternal Night and Ius Vitae Necisque (the latter being a mini-album, actually).
As from September 5th from last year, we could enjoy the great conceptual album called Black Corner Den, being a collaboration in between Pär Boström’s Cities Last Broadcast and Simon Heath’s main project Atrium Carceri. Unfortunately, I just found out that I did never publish a review for that release. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!
Just before they did split up, Brazil’s Mork (named after the Swedish word for ‘dark’) did release their second full length album, more than three years after debut album Extemption. That second album, called Awake, was released by Brazilian Black Metal label Sulphur Records, and co-released by Eternal Hatred Records (also hailing from this South-American country).
A short review, this time. And yes, I know this compilation was released more than a year ago, in the meantime, but so what?...

Agonia Black Vomit are dwelling around for about a decade. This duo, being Marco ‘Pesten’ Bomboi (also in e.g. Tundra) and Marco ‘Agonia’ Rosati (think Zedher / Zedher’s Coffin or Nailed God), created a first album, called Satanic Black Vomit, which was released in 2011 via Mexico’s Black Cult Records (hey guys, are you still around?).
Recently I published a review for Kaste Mustassa Tulessa, an album that sort of compiled older Vihan messU songs, but all of them being recreated for that release especially – see update December 26th 2017. Because this album what this review deals with is an untitled one (or self-called, as you wish), I thought this could be a third part of re-recorded material (after higher mentioned Kaste Mustassa Tulessa or 2015’s Liittona Pimeyteesi), or a ‘real’ compilation of older and / or unreleased stuff. But that is not the case.
My reviews for Copper Lock Hell (publishing date: November 17th 2014) and Corrosive Shroud (updated on December 24th 2015) – both, by the way, released via Cold Spring Records – sort of define my passionate adoration for this duo, being comprised of Andy Swan and Damian Bennett. Written over a period from 2016 to 2017 (during times of unease and sickness), Governance represents the newest work by UK-based Khost.
