Messiah’s Kiss

In the fall of 2008, vocalist Mike Tirelli was diagnosed with stomach cancer. At the same time guitarist and songwriter Georg Kraft had also a serious health issue so the band went on hiatus to give both gentlemen the time to take care of their health problems. After seven years the band returns with their fourth album and it is a come back that blows away their three previous albums.

Astralion

Astralion is new band in the melodic power metal genre, Like many other bands in this style they hail from Finland. They formed in 2011 and have with vocalist Ian Highhill and Bassist Dr. K. Lundell two ex-Olympos Mons members in their ranks. The line-up is completed with guitarist Hank Newman and drummer Arnold Hackman both ex-members of the thrash band The Addiction. Keyboard player Thomas Henry rounds up the line-up.

Wolfen

Wolfen come from Cologne Germany and Evilution is their 5th full length album since the band started out in the second half of the nineties…

Saturn

Wow….for a moment I thought I was the victim of a time warp which brought me back to the late seventies, listening to a new record on dad’s record player.

Nitrogods

What the f..ck is this I thought, when I put this CD on.  Was I given some as yet unknown, hidden Motörhead album ?  But halfway through the first song the reality dawned on me. This is a band who is doing his utmost best to sound like the aforementioned band, and almost succeeds.  Starting from the voice, down to the bass guitar, even the sound of the drums and the guitars have been copied from Motörhead, at least that’s my opinion.

Islander

Although Greenville (South Carolina) based Post-Hardcore outfit Islander has only been around since 2011, its members (singer Mikey Carvajal, guitarist Andrew Murphy, bassist Chris Doot, and drummer Eric Frazier) have been playing together since 2006. Admittedly, the guys broke up for a few years, but in 2011, purely out of love of being in a band, they got back together as Islander!

Sunless Sky

US POWER METAL… there was time that if a band was labelled such I simply had to have it. Hence I did have high expectation when Firebreather was sent  my way to review it. So, can Sunless Sky  from Cleveland, Ohio, live up to my  expectations?

Red Eleven

Red Eleven are a five man band hailing form Finland, which has been formed around 2009, and released their first album in 2013.  What the style of their music on the first album ‘Idiot Factory’ was, I wouldn’t know, since I’ve not heard it, but what they bring us on this follow-up album can be described as a mix between Metal, alternative rock, and rock.

Coldrain

't Was in the spring of 2007, when 5 members (more specifically, lead singer Masato David Hayakawa, lead guitarist Yokochi Y.K.C”, rhythm guitarist/ backing singer Kazuya SugiSugiyama, bassist Ryo RxYxOShimizu and drummer Katsuma Minatani) of two Nagoya based Japanese bands (that having been mentioned, you have no more reason to mistake this band for the Moberly, Missouri based Atmospheric Metal act which released it

Axel Rudi Pell

As I mentioned here, 2014 is becoming an excellent year for Heavy Metal. The 53-year old German guitar player Axel Rudi Pell, who has been on the road since 1981, has just released his sixteenth studio album, ‘Into the Storm’, and the final result is so pleasant that it will be hard for any headbanger not to enjoy it.
