Zoloft Evra

As you do know (or not, but then you will as from now on, so keep reading), Frozen Light are a label with many aural angles, yet always with ‘obscurity’ in mind. Of course, it is not different for this third recording by Italian act Zoloft Evra.

Taiga

When you’re in the mood for some unhappiness, you must pay attention. As you might know, a taiga is a vast landscape in Arctic and Subarctic regions on our sweet World, with forests and desolate plains, the silence of nature, the absence of joy, the representation of man’s futile existence. As a misanthropic philosopher (or is it a philosophising misanthropist?) such places aren’t but brain candy to me...

Pa Vesh En

Hailing from Belarus, Pa Vesh En are a mysterious project that started quite recently. After two demo tapes, which were released on Germany’s finest Iron Bonehead Productions, this one-man army now offers a first 7”EP on vinyl. A Ghost comes with two new pieces (both clocking about seven minutes each), which are available as well digitally.

Satanath

Yesss! That was my first thought when I heard, about one year ago, that there would be a new Satanath album out soon. There are two main reasons to explain my enthusiasm.

Corona Barathri & Emme Ya

Since a couple of years, I am the sole reviewer for Concreteweb. No further comment on the reasons, especially after the passing away of my great friend - and devoted Music-fan - Dirk, who started this webzine at the end of last century. Some left because of personal issues, some because of emotional connections, and several were just assholes, dickheads, selfish and stupid humans. Homo f*cking sapiens indeed, way too important to get no physical stuff anymore, yet just digital – aaargh, don’t let me start about those f*****…

Jessop&Co.

Last year I was sort of surprised positively by Cream, a two-tracker released on tape and digitally via the Italian label SØVN Records. it was a huge contrast to another tape by Jessop&Co., Skin Blade, which was released about half a year earlier, this time via Spain’s finest Craneal Fracture Records. I will come back to that release immediately. First a short introduction on the band.

Cryostasium

Very recently I came in touch with a new label, based in Boston, MA, US of A. Main reason was the cassette release of a new EP by Cryostasium, a unique love-it-or-hate-it one-man orchestra by Cody Maillet. I will come back to this immediately. Yet first I want to express my astonishment yet huge respect for the label, and this because of its raison d’être. Fish Prints was started just a couple of months ago by Cody’s twin brother Thor, releasing ‘curious sounds, past and present’.

Cultus Profano

Cultus Profano is the name of a new entity from the Californian city of Los Angeles. It is meant to promote cocktails on the beach, fast cars and colourful bath fashion… Not! No, it is an outfit by Arthur Mendiola aka Advorsus, knows as (former or current) drummer (and vocalist) in e.g. Sadistic Intent, Vesterian or Blaskyrkh. He joined forces with (female) guitarist / vocalist Strzyga with Cultus Profano as moniker.

Ugasanie & Xerxes The Dark

Cryo Chamber have never been afraid to release collaboration – I am not talking about split releases, yet about recordings based on a co-operation of different artists. Label owner Simon, for example, has several collabs with his (sublime) project Atrium Carceri, but the same goes for quite a lot projects that are closely related to this label (Alphaxone, Cities Last Broadcast, ProtoU, Council Of Nine, God Body Disconnect and so on).
