Ordoxe

Ordoxe are a Canadian band, formed in 1989 by Jean-François Jalbert (v, g). In 1993 he also founded Slaotvean, and since this one became rather ‘popular’, Jean-François decided to put his initial outfit on hold. After a while however, Ordoxe were reformed (in 2006 and 2007), and in that period they recorded two full lengths, Sorrick Ked Tho and Magnum Opus, both released via Forever Night.

J.B.O.

What is this.  If I’d say the Germans have a bad taste, I’d be close to the truth.  This is the country that brings us the ‘schlager’ festivals, and other disastrous events, yet also a country that has produced many world class metal bands, like Accept, Doro, and the list goes on.

Frontal

Frontal is a French technical death metal war machine. Although nothing in comment with them….you can best compare them to Gojira goes technical death metal. But these guys like to stay underground since there is only just so little info about them on the web…a shame because they deserve so much more attention.

Anyway….the guys have an album out for some time now and it is a gem. It made my days as it made me tap my feet and slightly nod my head up and down. Keep it up guys, I’m looking forward to your next record.

Evergrey

Evergrey is a band I first got acquainted with when I bought their ‘In Search Of Truth’ album, which was the bands third release, and I now realize that since buying that album, I’ve more or less unconsciously bought every album they’ve released since.

Coldrain

't Was in the spring of 2007, when 5 members (more specifically, lead singer Masato David Hayakawa, lead guitarist Yokochi Y.K.C”, rhythm guitarist/ backing singer Kazuya SugiSugiyama, bassist Ryo RxYxOShimizu and drummer Katsuma Minatani) of two Nagoya based Japanese bands (that having been mentioned, you have no more reason to mistake this band for the Moberly, Missouri based Atmospheric Metal act which released it

Chain of Dogs

Burning bridges in a world of death” is the combination of two EP4 and a demo of the Dutch band Chain of Dogs. Folk and Metal, as if slayer got into a fight with Flogging Molly the band info says….. A mediocre folkmetal band at best  I what I say….  I am sure this band will do well amidst their closed relatives and  drinking buddies (even if only for the Dutch dialect used on some of their songs) but on an international level  they simply fall short.

Bloodthirst

It’s been quite a while that I listened to a new Pagan Records-release. Since I am a ‘fan’ and a collector, I used to buy many hands full of material from this Polish label during the nineties (Lux Occulta, Profanum, Moon, Varathron, Misteria etc.), but as from this century it somewhat faded away.

Black Sachbak

Hah...ain't that Internet community a wonderful thing? I mean, this next review could not have been done, if it wasn't for the Indian webzine Transcending Obscurity putting our attention to the release. Well, it might've somehow come to us anyway, but I wanted to take on the opportunity to fully thank the webzine's publisher, Kunal Choksi!

Bigstake

Casket Music/ Copro Records catch-up, part euh...four (for details, see review David J Caron, posted a couple of weeks ago – with an apology from my part for not following the first parts more swiftly, but conditions at work were just too hectic and demanding, and I even suffered a short illness)!
