Another Svart Records release, and yet another shot of great retro-tasting music!
Another Svart Records release, and yet another shot of great retro-tasting music!
As it turns out, the people at Finland's Svart Records have a musical taste which extends beyond the mere “Rock”, “Metal”, and “Punk” genres, as proven with this one-man NeoFolk act Pyhä Kuolema (band name translating to “sacred death”).
Oh my...Svart Records IS swiftly becoming one of my favorite labels indeed! I mean, somehow these dudes manage to get the pick of more adventurous bands in Finland, you know, and that such is more than to my liking, is a self-evident fact of life!
Nashville Pussy is a band that of course I’d heard of before, but never paid any attention. I thought with a name like that they would either play some indigestible mix of punk and heavy metal, or pure glam rock.
Mount Salem is Emily Kopplin (vocals & organ), Cody Davidson (drums), Mark Hewett (bass) and Kyle Morrison (guitars) they are from US, Chicago. Playing psychedelic rock and doom metal.
Ach, Monkey3...a band which is hardly an unknown entity to yours truly!
Oh my, what the heck have they put in my to-do box now! No, wait a minute Tony, before slaggin' this thing down, first get to the history bit! Yeah...well okay!
Modern Metal act Heart Of A Coward was started in 2007.
This London-based British Funeral Doom Metal act was founded in April of 2010 as a one-man project by lead singer Daniel Neagoe (known also from Colosus, Deos, God Eat God, and formerly of My Shadow, Clouds, Fogland, Gothic, Imber Luminis, Tiarra, Unfathomable Ruination, L.O.S.T. and Amatris – in other words, a well-seasoned musician!), whom released Eye Of Solitude
Woah...what a great act, this Domovoid! Imagine what might happen if a singer/ lead guitarist raised on a daily dose of Hawkwind, and a rhythm guitarist/ keyboardist whose main course was a consequent package of Black Sabbath, would come together on a friendly basis to start playing music together...that's what this band sounds like...for real! I other words, what you get here is the heaviest Psychedelic Rock, subgenre Space Rock, you have ever heard!
